Charter Boat: Portia
Purpose built with many extra features, island wheelhouse giving all round fishing positions, Cummin's engines providing 900HP, cruise 18-20 knots top speed of 30 knots, fully silenced exhaust's, sound insulated engine rooms, flexible mounts on engines and shafts - all giving a smooth quiet ride. Engine intakes funneled through wheelhouse roof eliminating engine noise and smells onto deck area, moulded fins between hulls giving greater stability at speed, comprehensive electronics package including Simrad sat compass giving the most accurate position available on the market, making wreck fishing spot on! Only charter boat in the harbour to have this. Commercial vessel built to seafish certification and part 1 registration, 10 watertight bulkheads throughout making an extremely safe and strong vessel.
Both the Portia and Royal Charlotte are in constant contact with each other, increasing their scope of fish finding capabilities. Both boats can be hired for competitions and corporate events, scattering of ashes and filming work.
The price is £60 per person and this includes rods and tackle, this is for a full day charter (8hrs). The whole boat can be hired for £600 upto 10 people, and £60pp upto 12.
The vessel is also available for safety boat duties and survey contracts, and is now fitted with Olex 3D seabed mapping. We have recently undertaken filming duties for the BBC and Sky News.
Run by father and son Mick and Matt Coker, Mick has been a charter skipper for over 40 years since a boy, Matt has been chartering for 16 years since the age of 18, they both have extensive knowledge of fishing and have fished the English channel area all their lives. Mick, became renowned for his big catches, and was the only boat to set the port record at folkestone, many times, with his latest set at 4462 lb of cod and pollock in 5hrs (404 cod and 40 pollock). He has been nominated for Sea Angler ‘Top Skipper’ and Boat Angler ‘Super Skipper’ awards and his boat has been presented a plaque by Sea Angler Magazine “In recognition of running a first class charter boat that gives both service and value for money to our readers” They also run the well known charter boat Royal Charlotte.

Can’t thank the skipper, Matt, enough for how hard he worked to give us a great trip - we are all relatively novices but everyone caught and we ended with a dozen big seabass plus other species. First time on the Portia but we’ll defo be back.
Skippers Reponse: Thank you Gary, my pleasure, thanks for the review
